How to Realize Your Goals

We all have goals whether we admit them to ourselves or anyone else, or not.. The question is, what are you doing about them? Have you written them down? Do you look at them often? Do you talk about them? Do you take action to achieve them?

Setting specific measurable goals is the way to go!

In Jack Canfield’s book "How to Get From Where You Are To Where You Want To Be" there's a funny / not funny comic: a drawing of a man lying in the road and under it is written, “Encumbered by a low self-image, Bob takes a job as a speed bump.”

Is this you...with a low self-image? If so, you’re probably not putting much effort into setting goals because you probably believe you can't have them. You may have a case of speed-bump-itis!

NOTICE:  It’s time to make a commitment with and to yourself. Most every successful person has set specific goals and then taken action - one step at a time - to achieve them. If they can do it, so can you.

1. Have a Goal Journal

Expensive or inexpensive, pretty or just aplain pad of paper, the important thing is that it's dedicated to only one thing: your goals.

2. Create your 'bucket list'

Write at least five, must-do-before-I-die goals, one per page.

3. Take the plunge

Be daring! Be bold! Write down what you really want to be, do and have for your life.

4. Be Specific

Goals are specific. “I want a good car” isn’t a goal. “I will have (a specific make/model) by XYZ date,” is. The more specific you are, the more clearly you program for success.

5. Say them!

Repeat your goals out loud to yourself three times a day, every day.

6. Find a 'buddy'

Find someone you trust to share your goals - an accountability partner. When you actually share your goals with someone else, you make a deeper level of commitment.

7. Take Action

For each goal, write down 5 or more, small, action-steps to take each week reach your goals.

Who's Creating Your Life - Your Problems or You?

What do you notice in your life? What do you think about?
How many problems are you actively worrying about?
How many things keep you awake at night? or wake you?

Did you ever notice that problems seem to 'breed'? ie The more you have to worry about, the more problems you have to solve, the more problems you have to solve! In fact, the better you are at solving those problems the more of them you get. You may ask yourself "Do people see me as a good problem solver...the go-to person to find answers?"

Do you really choose to live that way? How can you change that?

When you 'solve' a challenging situation, tell yourself "Well, that's finished...one less difficulty to handleand soon I'll be free of difficulties!"  (As a former 'go-to problem solver' I know it works because I've done it and my life is sooooo much better today.)

Now it's time to make sure you have interests and activities that are fun, uplifting, happy, fulfilling and the like. You cannot give up something without putting something in it's place. This is the Clean Closet Principal: if you remove most or all of the stuff, soon it's filled up again and almost always the new stuff is just as undesireable as the original stuff. Instead of returning to an old habit of worry and problems, make sure your life is filled with positive thoughts, words and experiences. Get excited about life!

Of course there will be challenging situations throughout life. It just happens sometimes but it doesnt have to be your theme. YOU control the theme of your thoughts, your days and your life. Sooner or later you'll notice that your life is going along much smoother than in the past...and you're loving it!

Let's look forward to better thoughts, better days and a better life every day...in every way!

Let People Live in Your Heart

This is one of the most beautiful videos I've ever seen...and I don't mean beautiful scenery. It's about teaching children about life, compassion acceptance and more. It's about so much that I can't seem to explain it. Please watch and comment.

Fabulous video!

My Gracious! This is such an encouraging video by Aimee Mullins.
However, encouragment isn't the most important part...you'll have opportunity to explore how you think and speak about yourself and others. You'll have opportunity to explore how you define yourself and how that impacts your life.
It's about 20 minutes and worth every moment.
Enjoy!

Program the WHAT - not the HOW

Often in classes we discuss the best way to do our 'programming'. Certainly we have enough techniques in the courses to cover virtually every scenario, every desire, every goal.
There is a "trick" though and that is to make sure you're programming for your desired outcome - the WHAT - not the steps necessary to get there - the HOW.

Our job is to identify our intended outcome - the WHAT - and Spirit is in charge of HOW to get us there. If we believe that we know HOW to get where we choose to go, we limit what Spirit can do for us.

Although this didn't happen in one of my classes, I remember a story I heard about years ago. Sometimes we discuss it in class.
Once upon a time, some years ago, there was a Silva Method Basic class in progress. One student had a dream to go to Hawaii for 2 weeks and she estimated it would cost her $2000 for the trip of her dreams.  During the Mirror of the Mind exercise she programmed for the money...she visualized a hand writing out a check to her for the amount she desired.

At the next class she returned and BOY was she mad! When she calmed down the lecturer asked her how she had done her programming so she shared what she'd done.  She also told everyone the check HAD arrived but she'd needed to use it for a medical bill, not a vacation.

I think you can see the problem: she programmed for the HOW, not the WHAT. During the second class she programmed for her trip instead of how to make it happen.

As the story goes, soon after the class she met an older lady at the laundromat and they struck up a fun conversation. After a while this lady asked the Silva Grad if she'd consider accompanying her to Hawaii for 2 weeks - all expenses paid.

WOW! She received her desire, the WHAT, and didn't even need to worry about the HOW. Often we can't know the very best way for things to occur but Spirit does.

It's always good to end your programming session with "This or something better." By adding this Spirit is free to meet your desired outcome with no restrictions...in the best way possible.

Remember to identify WHAT you choose and let Spirit take care of getting there.

How to Make Your Quality of Life Better and Better

I'd like to share a story about a young lady's experience.

My daughter "was having some problems feeling left out and not part of her friends’ group so I told her to use mirror of the mind to create the relationships she would like to have. The next day after school, she greeted me full of excitement and said “it worked”. As soon as she got to school that morning, her friend (who has been ignoring her for several months) ran up to her with a big hug and included her in lots of activities. In PE that day she was asked by 2 different teams to join them in the beginning of picking their players (usually she is one of the last people to get picked). That was so exciting to see that it worked so easy for her and gives her a great foundation on the power of Silva.
Thank you."

What a delight! To know that there's a way to change life experiences for the better...for all concerned...is awesome. I'm thrilled to be part of relaying that information and more.

Better & Better every day in every way,
Barbara

Are You a Victim of Your DNA?

With an active interest in science, particularly biology, I've always read everything I could get my hands on about DNA.  In fact in college I considered a career in genetics.

Certainly we were taught that whatever our DNA legacy was we could, would and MUST fulfill it.  That perspective is almost a 'sentence', isn't it!

Take a few minutes to listen to this video with Dr. Lipton and Dr.Wayne Dyer.  It may be quite surprising to you.
